2012 Best Places to Work in Virginia

Knight Point Systems was recently named one of the 2012 Best Places to Work in Virginia by Virginia Business, and Best Companies Group. The survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce, and businesses. Organizations from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking.

"We are excited to be considered one of the Best Places to Work in Virginia." said Bob Eisiminger, Knight Point's Chief Executive Officer. "This award recognizes the hard work that our employees put in every day to make our company great. It is an honor to be listed among the best places to work in the state."

This award, its announcement coming on the heels of Knight Point being awarded one of the Washingtonians 50 Greatest Places to Work, is truly an honor. This award exemplifies Knight Point employees' enthusiasm for the company and dedication to the company's four core values: Candor, Competence, Commitment, and Confidence. RESTON, VA, October 20, 2011 – Knight Point Systems, a leading IT service provider, announced today that is has been named one of the 50 Great Places to Work in the Washington, DC area by Washingtonian Magazine. The winners were chosen after a panel of editors and writers reviewed company submittals and more than 13,000 employee surveys. The final determinations relied heavily on the scores given by a company's employees.

This is the seventh time The Washingtonian magazine has chosen Great Places to Work in the Washington, DC area. The feature dates back to 1999 and is published every other year. The top 50 companies are awarded based on measures such as, generous pay and benefits, challenging and interesting work, great work/life balance, opportunities to learn and grow, financial stability, commitment to charity and community, and the recognition and respect given to employees. Knight Point strives to make the work environment fun, exciting, and not just a place to work, but a place where a person goes to make a difference and have fun doing it.

"This award honors the hard work and commitment to excellence that all of our employees demonstrate every day," said Chief Operating Officer, Doug Duenkel, "our employees are our greatest asset and this award is a 'thank you' to everyone for making Knight Point a great place to work."

Knight Point ranked as a Top Ten winner in the Washingtonian article for "Winners With the Highest Employee Scores for Great Pay" and whimsically, "Winners With the Highest Employee Scores for Good Coffee". The article touts Knight Point's belief in growing its employees "who receive and average of 56 training hours each year", while also noting charitable donations of over $106,000 over the last three years.

ThunderCat Partners With GSA Mentor To Guide Agencies Through FDCCI

ThunderCat Technology has partnered with GSA Mentor, Knight Point Systems to create a specific methodology and process along with world class tools to guide Federal Agencies through their entire Data Center Consolidation Initiative efforts (FDCCI) from beginning to end. KPS handles IT services and assessments with certified best practices. ThunderCat handles all procurement, software, hardware, and facilities.

At the center of the approach is Knight Point Systems' Hercules. It is a proprietary asset management, mapping, and optimization tool developed specifically for DCCI. Hercules acts a central repository for IT asset attributes; tracks and helps manage changes in the IT infrastructure; maps complex physical and logical relationships among assets, applications, people, and facility data.

Hercules provides a single, easy-to-use application to manage all data center assets. This allows faster and complete infrastructure assessments; increased infrastructure visibility; simplified change management; quick compliance: It has specific structured DCCI Reporting Deliverables to allow agencies to quickly and easily meet all OMB reporting requirements.

Hercules also helps enable Active Asset Management which results in seamless and transparent management of the data center, providing clients with a clear line of sight into IT infrastructure. It allows agencies to readily identify and capitalize upon opportunities to improve their IT infrastructure. Active Asset Management also ensures and enforces effective change management procedures, simplifying the often complicated task of inventory management.

Dan Duenkel, Director of Technology, stated "We have already built up extensive experience and past performance in this area. The formal FDCCI mandate has simply accelerated what many of our agency clients have already been doing with us. We are excited to share our expertise with others just starting now or moving quickly and more formally toward OMB compliance."

Additionally, ThunderCat Technology has added an FDCCI resources page to the website complete with history and overview of FDCCI, whitepapers, FAQs, official announcements, templates, and updates from Vivek Kundra, Richard Spires, and the Chief Information Officer Council. It also contains a library of recent surveys, reports, as well as a wide range of trade journal articles on the topic. http://www.thundercattech.com/solutions/fdcci.html

Inc. Magazine and Winning Workplaces Announce Top Small Company Workplaces

Read the article about Knight Point here

New York, NY, May 23, 2011—Inc. magazine and Winning Workplaces today announce the winners of the 2011 Top Small Company Workplaces competition—an annual contest that recognizes the nation's best small and mid-sized company work environments—in Inc.'s June issue. The magazine features the contest's 50 winners, a diverse array of organizations featuring such companies as Cal-Tex Protective Coatings, equipment supplier Fitness Anywhere, and audio firm Skullcandy.

Every year since 2003, Winning Workplaces, an Evanston, IL-based nonprofit organization, has recognized those firms that attribute much of their business success to their commitment to exemplary people practices and outstanding workplace cultures.

Menlo Innovations, a small software technology firm, pairs all workers for cross-training and mentoring to build a constantly learning organization. Dyn, a 24-hour software support firm, acts as a single team; no task is too small for any employee to perform. The CEO works the support queue, the founder handles "on call" rotations, and managers still answer midnight phone calls. M & E Painting's 20-person staff is so well trained and collaborative that the residential/commercial painting contractor does not ask for compensation until a job is completed to the customer's satisfaction. The 2011 Top Small Company Workplaces are, as represented by the organizations above, compelling examples of successful organizations with unique, exceptional cultures.

Winning Workplaces and Inc. received nearly 350 completed applications for the contest. A national panel of experts in leadership and small to mid-sized business judged the finalists. Selections were based on specific metrics and qualitative assessments of the finalists' success in creating the kind of workplaces that engage employees and deliver bottom-line results.

"This year's winning firms distinguish themselves in so many ways," asserts Ken Lehman, chairman of Winning Workplaces. "They are steadily growing their revenues, often outperforming their industries; have identified niches where they add unmatched value; and are guided by strong missions and values. And, they make no secret of the fact that a key driver behind their success is their engaged and committed workforces."

"These firms represent some of the finest privately held companies in the world," states Bob LaPointe, president of Inc. "Their stories, appearing in the June issue of Inc., clearly demonstrate that taking an innovative approach to creating the right culture—one in which human capital is embedded in a company's value proposition—can create real competitive leadership. Each of these Top Small Company Workplaces offers an environment in which people flourish and, as a result, profit follows."
