Knight Point As a Service Model
Through Knight Point’s “As A Service” modeling, we provide businesses with the service of hosting and managing specialized business applications, with the goal of reducing cost by central administration and through specialization in a particular business application.
Knight Point’s “As A Service” platform is essentially an extension of the idea of providing our Practice Areas in a customer-based solution environment. Knight Point not only focuses on managing and hosting third-party independent software vendor’s software and hardware, but providing the high quality Services that go along with products through our Practice Areas. Characteristics include:
- Network-based access to, and management of, commercially available software and hardware
- Activities managed from central locations rather than at each customer's site, enabling customers to access applications remotely via the web
- Application delivery typically closer to a one-to-many model (single instance, multi-tenant architecture) than to a one-to-one model, including architecture, pricing, partnering and management characteristics
- Centralized feature updating, which obviates the need for end-users to download patches and upgrades.
- Frequent integration into a larger network of communicating software—either as part of a mashup or a plugin to a platform.
Benefits of the Knight Point “As A Service” model:
- Capital expenditure is reduced or eliminated. The customer may use Operations allocations to pay for the Services.
- Faster implementation. In most cases the customer can deploy more quickly as no local installation is required.
- Depending on the user, it may remove a non-core activity (deployment and support of the software and its associated infrastructure) freeing up time to focus on core business activities
- Reduced need to predict scale of demand and infrastructure investment up front
- Improvements to reliability due to redundancy and higher availability than the user would otherwise have
- Reliability
- Reduced time to market
