Knight Point Systems’ IaaS Federal Community Cloud earns FedRAMP Ready status

February 29, 2016 – Reston, VA – Knight Point Systems (KPS) has further improved their ability to provide The Technology You Need. When You Need It.® today as the KPS Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Federal Community Cloud, called “CloudSeed”, has earned a status of “FedRAMP Ready”.  Included as part of the CloudSeed system is the KPS tool “Zeus”, which gives customer a single pane of glass for viewing and managing infrastructure across multiple consumption models.

This is the first crucial step for CloudSeed and Zeus as they continue down the path of receiving a JAB P-ATO.  KPS has undergone and completed an assessment of FedRAMP Moderate security controls, and is now also undergoing an assessment of all additional controls needed to meet SRG Level 5 requirements in preparation for a DoD PA.  The CloudSeed SSP is now available for agency review in the FedRAMP secure repository. “We are excited about this milestone,” said Doug Duenkel, COO of Knight Point Systems. “Our FedRAMP Ready status means we are ready to provide off premises cloud solutions to our Federal customers.”

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, or FedRAMP, is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. FedRAMP is the result of close collaboration with cybersecurity and cloud experts from the General Services Administration (GSA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DOD), National Security Agency (NSA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council and its working groups, as well as private industry. The program’s primary decision-making body is the Joint Authorization Board (JAB), comprised of the CIOs from DOD, DHS, and GSA.  In addition to the JAB, OMB, the Federal CIO Council, NIST, DHS, and the FedRAMP Program Management Office (PMO) play keys roles in effectively running FedRAMP.
